Our Tale

Elizabeth Goodman with her Rottweiler Atticus and his best dog friend Marge on a white studio backdrop

Designed for the Dogs Who Make a House a Home

Enid Blythe was born from the frustration that, for all the dog beds in the world, not one seemed made for both the creature we love and the room we’ve so carefully composed.

Our founder, Elizabeth, spent months searching for the perfect bed for her headstrong, charismatic tank of a Rottweiler, Atticus. He needed proper bone support for his sensitive hips, a pillow to prop his head, and breathable natural fabrics to keep cool through the summer.

So, she made what she was looking for: a bed with orthopedic support that captured the spirit of her English childhood: muddy paws on parquet floors, dogs dozing beneath the warmth of the Aga.

In the midst of building Enid Blythe, life unfolded in both directions. The brand launched in October 2024; within three months, her daughter was born. Two months later, Atticus was gone. A beginning, an arrival, a goodbye, all stitched into the first bed.

Named as an ode to Elizabeth’s niece in the Peak District, whom she doesn’t get to see nearly as often as she’d like, Enid Blythe is, above all, Atticus’s legacy. In his honour, five percent of profits support canine cancer research.
