Our Tale
A tribute to Rottweilers and timeless British style,
It is with both joy and a touch of melancholy that we share the story behind Enid Blythe Dog Beds. Our founder, Elizabeth, driven by a desire to find a bed that perfectly suited her Rottweiler, Atticus’s, sleeping style, as well as her own taste, embarked on a journey that led to the creation of our first bed. Inspired by the timeless style of her childhood English country manor, where rambunctious dogs were a cherished part of the scenery, Elizabeth sought to blend elegance and practicality in a way that satisfied both her and Atticus’s needs.
After naming the brand after her eldest niece, who currently resides in the UK’s stunning Peak District, she set about developing a dog bed that was both orthopaedic and attractive. Regrettably, as Elizabeth was nurturing this vision, Atticus was diagnosed with lymphoma, an aggressive and terminal cancer. Though the prognosis was a mere six months, he is resolutely determined to defy those expectations.
In honour of Atticus and his enduring legacy, Enid Blythe is now more than just a dog bed brand. It is a commitment to advancing canine cancer research. Every bed we craft carries with it a piece of Atticus’s spirit and supports the fight against this devastating illness by donating a percentage of our profits to canine cancer research.
We thank you for supporting our small, woman-owned business and for joining us in celebrating Atticus's life through the comfort and elegance of our beds.
