New Dog Bed Covers: On Stripes and the Future We’re Stitching
Somewhere between the fifth swatch and the third cup of tea, I realised I’d been staring at fabric for what must’ve been an hour. Not idly, but with the quiet intensity of someone trying to hear what a textile wants to become. This is how all Enid Blythe covers begin; not with trend forecasts or market briefs, but with a feeling. A remembered stripe. A colour from a childhood hallway. A sense of something that ought to exist.
And now, after many months of pulling references, sketching compositions, rejecting countless iterations, and firing off politely urgent emails to my manufacturer, I’m ever so pleased to say that we’ve begun production on two new cover options.

The first is a classic, a white and navy ticking stripe: elegant, nautical in the gentlest possible way, and entirely timeless. The second is a varied grey pencil stripe: subtle, restrained, but full of character on closer inspection. Like a favourite old suit or the shadowed spine of a well-read book.
They will be ready in early October, and I’ll open pre-orders in September, for those who’d like to reserve theirs early.
If all this seems a touch slow, I’ll let you in on a truth: it is. I am a team of one, and every decision passes through my desk, my hands, and often, my instincts. From the first flicker of an idea to the final, hand-tailored cover, the process takes roughly six months. The fabric is custom-woven in small batches. We choose 100% cotton - not only because it’s breathable for summer and gentle against a dog’s skin, but because it washes well and wears beautifully. These are not disposable things. They are meant to live and evolve with your home, not become a worn-out eyesore that gets quietly hidden in a corner.

I’ve always believed that luxury isn’t just for humans. Our dogs give us everything: love, loyalty, a reason to get up in the morning. Why should their beds be ugly, flimsy, or lumpy?
Every Enid Blythe bed is built with the same thoughtfulness you’d bring to furnishing your sitting room. The memory foam base is solid, not shredded. The head pillow is plush, for proper neck support. It’s designed for young dogs and old joints alike.
We line each bed with waterproof protection. We make the covers machine-washable. We don’t cut corners. Because these aren’t just dog beds, they’re gestures of care. And, a portion of our profit supports canine cancer research in memory of my beloved Atticus, for whom the very first bed was made.

I do hope you love these new covers as much as I do. I’ve lived with them, wrestled with them, pinned them to boards, spilled coffee on samples, and finally, finally, called them finished.
Tell me, what should I make next?
With warmest wishes,
Elizabeth
